Babs mission is to enhance the dignity and quality of life of individuals by providing a safe space where they feel listened to and enabling them to plan their next steps and eliminating barriers where possible.
Recent research shows feelings of loneliness and isolation are some of the biggest obstacles to face mental health services around the world.
It is also well-documented that social connection improves physical health and psychological well-being. One telling study showed that a lack of social connection is a greater detriment to health than obesity, smoking and high blood pressure.
BABS and ICHH, have discussed and understand just how much of an impact these issues have on those people experiencing homelessness. This why we believe that important to have a service with an emphasis on making positive connections.
Our service is simple but effective as it aims to alleviate such feelings by actively listening to those who feel lonely, isolated or in any way down or vulnerable and offering support. This gives each client a voice and this can be empowering.
The service is completely non-judgemental, and our team are there to listen.
